Music

We are pleased to welcome two Russian musicians to the Blue Walnut for the first time. Julia Morozova on violin and Ekaterina (Kate) Kosova on piano will be treating us to a recital of classical pieces favouring Russian composers such as Tchaikovsky, Shnitke and Rachmaninov.

Julia and Kate are both from the Russian city of Tula, situated about 200km south of Moscow. They went to the same school, and then met again at the Dargomizski college of arts in Tula, where they enjoyed many years of playing together in their piano/violin duet.

After completing college, the girls went their separate ways (Julia studied at the Conservatory of Petrozavodsk and working in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Tula. Kate pursued a career as a piano teacher, working in Russia, Sweden and finally settled in the UK where she continues to teach and perform.

Through a twist of fate, a friend of Kate's husband met Julia at their Russian wedding and now they are also together and have been happily married for four years.

Julia and Kate enjoy having a varied repertoire and like to take the opportunity to perform together whenever their busy lifestyles allow.
